Swim with Dolphins
*****This is no longer available in Mexico. There are dolphin interactions activities, but we have not done these.
One of our all-time favorite adventures was swimming with dolphins at Chankanaab. Dolphin Discovery offers a wide variety of experiences, a pool area, and a beach. You can spend the day here and enjoy numerous amenities. They even have packages that include your food and drink.
Transportation to Chankanaab is easy take a short taxi ride, and you’re there. If you want to save a few bucks, walk outside of the port and grab a yellow taxi. They are generally a bit cheaper.
Shopping
Cozumel is a mecca for shopping.
Within walking distance from the cruise or you can grab a taxi, The shopping area in Cozumel is massive. Hot tip… walk a block or two away from the main street… and the deals get better.
Tons of food and bars, everything you could want for shopping or strolling.
Private Jeep Rental
For around 100us you can rent a jeep and be your own tour guide.
The island is only about 30 miles long, and there is one road around the island, so navigation is easy.
This gives you a chance to see it all.
Leave downtown and see the ruins,
then drive down the “wild side” of the island it has a few bars but otherwise is undeveloped. You might even find a beach all to yourself. Continue your drive to Punta Sur, pay the entry fee, and see salt water crocs
and the Punta Sur light house.
There is also a beach at Punta sur if your need to cool off.
Make your way back to town, return your jeep and head back to your ship. If you want to shop leave a bit of time for that.
Private beach club
There are a few beach clubs where you can enjoy an all-inclusive day at the beach.
These are a short taxi ride from the pier and offer similar amenities.
Scuba Diving
Cozumel is known the world over for its fabulous scuba diving.
We highly recommend Palancar reef and Columbia reef. The structures are amazing.
These are deeper dives (70′-80′) for your 2nd dive… We recommend Cedar pass (45′-50′), everytime, we’ve dove here, we have seen nurse sharks and eagle rays.
